I have to be honest, searching for art is not like it used to be a few years ago, hell, just last year even. AI and capitalist marketing of goods, often AI rendered art, is heavily promoted in search engines making it nearly impossible to find anything. This could seriously be my last Wicked Art Wednesday if I don’t come up with another plan.
That said, I chose a phenomenal artist whose stunning art is worthy of closing out my Halloween 2026 schedule. I present to you the fine art of Kurtis Rykovich!
Why we love it: Spooky cats, fantastical creatures, haunted images, spooky and cute, colorful macabre, it’s all here, a visionary smorgasbord for your eyeballs.
We celebrate all 31 days in October and before I share the Halloween schedule this year, I just wanted to say a few words.
Sharing our cultural traditions helps preserve them and embracing our communities makes us stronger and breaks down barriers between human beings. This is the time of year when people do the most for each other, and the Halloween season is all about community.
Spirit Halloween’s charitable org Spirit of the Children celebrates 20 years!
So, I want to encourage people to go out and get involved in community events. Go to an art show, holiday fair or school carnival, visit a haunted maze, go to the theater to watch a spooky play or movie, invite some neighbors over on Halloween night and pass out candy together. Start a new tradition.
Academy Museum of Motion Pictures in Los Angeles, CA just opened a new horror movie exhibition.
I’m also going to repeat something I said last year because I believe in it so much:
Don’t let anyone tell you how to do Halloween. Decorate or not. Wear a costume or not. We can be scary and sweet. We can be spooky and cute. Let the teenagers trick or treat. Kids collecting candy are too occupied to do anything else. I truly believe Halloween makes people happy. It’s about community. We need our communities more than ever. It’s the only thing that can save America now.

Today, we celebrate the one and only art master Alex Ross, as a special tribute to Halloween, with a look at his beautiful magnificent drawings of the beloved Universal monsters.
Why we love it: Alex Ross’ influence on comic book artists is unparalleled. The man’s technical artistry is awe-inspiring, with his ability to show realism and the emotional depth of characters truly makes them come alive.
I could just sit here all day describing him with good adjectives. Mr. Ross is simply a marvel. One doesn’t just look at his art, they have feelings.
Why we love it: Johanna Parker’s name is synonymous with Halloween folk art and vintage Halloween replicas. She often partners with top retail and wholesalers, where her art and designs are featured on everything from art and clothing to Halloween decorations and home goods.
Why we love it: Spooky Wil’s original designs are whimsical nods to that feel-good vintage Halloween style. In his shop in the UK, Wil sells vintage style halloween clothing, decor, homewares, and memorablia, Hocus Pocus and other spooky movie merch, and even rare, hard to find Halloween items.

My first encounter with vintage Halloween artist Austin Pardun was seeing his drawings at Midsummer Scream a few years ago. I missed seeing him this past summer, but I’m sure he’ll be back.

Why we love it: Ausin Pardun is another artist whose beautiful drawings mimic that classic Halloween style so well, it’s like they walked off the pages of a 1940s Halloween Beistle catalog.
