Recipe of the Month – June 2019

Summer is here, and with it, the desire to make quick and easy dinners that won’t cause heat stroke during the hot, sweltering weather. So, when I came across this Halloween snack idea from the Cupcake Diaries blog, I thought, this totally doubles as a great summer dinner idea!

HALLOWEEN CHICKEN AND PASTA SKEWERS

Ingredients

  • 1 package chicken strips
  • 1 package smoked sausages
  • 1 c. brown sugar
  • 2 c. barbecue sauce
  • 1 (20oz) package cheese tortellini
  • 2 c. cheddar cheese, cut into cubes
  • 36 (6-inch) skewers, plastic or bamboo
  • 36 plastic spider rings

Of course, these also make awesome snacks for your pool party or BBQ. Keep the fun by swapping out the spiders for some mermaid or pirate rings.

Worst Dads in Horror

Posting this blog a day late and a dollar short, just like dear ‘ole dad. If you were one of the millions who spent Father’s Day pining over your lost, non-existent volatile relationship with daddy dearest, cheer up, and be glad you weren’t the offspring of any of these bad dads of horror.

10. Satan – Rosemary’s Baby (1968)

It doesn’t really get much worse than having Satan for a dad. Sure, there are probably perks to being the Antichrist, but the trade-off is lifetime of micromanagement from mid-level staffers on daddy’s payroll. Satan’s coven rape, conspire, commit murder and drive the chosen mother-to-be to the brink of insanity, all to ensure Satan’s son is born on the exact date that will make him 33 years on the millennial, the same age as Jesus when he came into his own. Who would’ve guessed the devil would be so petty?

Halloween Green

As we celebrate World Environment Day, here’s ten things that will help save the environment this Halloween.happiest pumpkin

Not just a Jack-o’-lantern 

Don’t let your pumpkin guts go to waste. Save the seeds and bake them for an awesome snack. Use the flesh to make puree or pumpkin juice, or even eat it raw. Check for recipes online. You can also freeze pumpkin and use it later to make sides, pies and other holiday desserts.
