Sinister Saturday: Krampus Approved Christmas Coal Recipe

Earlier this week, I went out Halloween shopping, looking for a few items needed to complete my decorations. Unfortunately, Halloween has already been replaced in the stores by Christmas! What crap is this. Wait your turn, Christmas!

Now, I’m no hater. I’m just pissy and sad the Halloween season is half over. I suppose it’s only fair, I mean, Christmas-loving folks are just trying to get happy like us Halloween fans were trying to do back in July. So, in the spirit of community, I’m willing to compromise, with the help, and permission, from the The Necro-Nom-Nom-Nomicon, I’m by sharing a fangtastic recipe that brings both Christmas and Halloween together with Krampus Approved Christmas Coal. Krampus might not be the sweetest creature stirring but this black-as-night dessert is sinfully spookilicious!

Fright Fright Nightcaps: Vampire’s Kiss Shots

Happy Friday! Today is National Liqueur Day, and to celebrate, I made my own version of Vampire’s Kiss Shots, using Bailey’s Irish Cream. If you’re a fan of chocolate, Vodka or Irish Cream, this is a dreamy cocktail. Personally, all chocolate style cocktails are my thing. Some people don’t like them cuz they’re too sweet. If you don’t have a sweet tooth, leave out the sugar, add more Vodka and use the chocolate sparingly.

INGREDIENTS:

.05-1 oz Vodka
1 oz Irish Cream
Raspberries
Chocolate syrup to garnish the glass
1 tsp Sugar

Here’s the pic of my own version with a couple of alterations, first I don’t own a tall clear shot glass, so, I used a small dessert glass instead. Next, I used strawberries instead of raspberries because raspberries cause allergies in my home and they’re technically banned. I think the recipe turned out great, but obviously didn’t look the same.

Throwback Thursdays: The Howling II

These movies are so painstakingly 80s, they serve as a tubular tribute to both spandex and bloodsplatter.

The Howling II: Your Sister is a Werewolf (1985)

In celebration of the Harvest full moon, we’re kicking off Throwback Thursdays with this 80s classic, chosen over Joe Dante’s brilliant first film The Howling because it stars Christopher Lee as aging werewolf hunter, who recruits a young American couple to accompany him to Transylvania, on a hunt for the immortal witchy-werewolf queen Stirba, played by B-movie queen Sybil Danning and all her royal glory!
You get the Prince of Darkness himself, cheesy special effects, awful werewolf costumes that were actually ape costumes, bloody carnage, bitchcraft, werewolf menage a trois, werewolf orgy, a catchy theme song on repeat throughout the entire movie, a Czech club full of punk rockers, 80s perma hair, sunglasses at night, the tightest black leather outfit ever stitched together for film, and Sybil Danning’s gigantic scene-stealing breasts. My friends, this is a masterclass in 80s B-movies!

Happy October 2020

Back in Celtic times, it was believed that evil spirits take advantage of the thinning veil between our two worlds to pass through and terrorize humans, thus began the practice of holding huge bonfires, where the light warded off evil spirits. The Celts also started the tradition of wearing scary masks and costumes, done to trick evil spirits into thinking they were fellow demons, which brings us to Halloween 2020. The way this year is going, I suspect there’ll be whole lotta spirits crossing over to make mischief on Halloween night!

This is why it’s more important than ever to uphold our Halloween traditions by decorating our homes, wearing costumes, and carving pumpkins. Silly superstition, you say? Do you really want to take that chance? We can’t even keep toilet paper stocked and you think we can fight the living dead?! Trust me, if everyone does those three things, we will stave off the zombie apocalypse for another year.

Recipe of Month – August

Last Monday was National S’mores Day, which I missed because I was wallowing over some bad news. S’mores are the perfect camping treat, summer dessert, or comfort food. They say if you ask, the universe will provide, so, imagine how happy I was when I came across Tidymom’s recipe for Chocolate Covered Halloween S’mores on a Stick. Yes, universe, I agree, chocolate dipped Halloween s’mores is a fast, easy and cheap way to soothe our inner child’s tears.
S’mores are a pandemic requirement.
