Monthly Haiku Corner – December

Happy December! Welcome to the haunted holidays. Not everyone is surrounded by family and friends this season. Some spend Christmastime alone. Some don’t celebrate at all. Some people celebrate different traditions due to their beliefs and religion. It’s busy, stressful, and it’s important to be kind during this time. It’s important to be kind to yourself. No one expects you to be a big ball of cheer, just don’t be an asshole. Hurt and anger is contagious. Shield yourself with love, patience, and kindness, but set realistic goals.

Our little ghost has no name, but he wanders the hallways of his old home this December, looking for Christmas cheer. The theme this month is haunted holidays.

Monthly Haiku Corner – November

Welcome November! If hobbitses can have second breakfast, why can’t we have second Halloween? It’s no secret that I’m no longer a fan of Thanksgiving, but November is fine month to do all the things on your Fall and Halloween bucket list, that you were too busy to do during October. For me, I hold a Lord of the Rings marathon one weekend, and simply enjoy Halloween, which I always seem to miss cuz I’m too busy working.

The theme this month is Halloween Encore.

Monthly Haiku Corner – September

Five days into September and it certaintly doesn’t feel like Fall’s right around the corner. Heatwave aside, the official Halloween season has begun. Now is the time when human creativity and inspiration is at its highest. Our memories are crucial to this process. We steer far away from bad memories, but good memories will drive every inch of our being to replicate and it’s here that we find our inner child flourishing and building the foundation that the soul rests upon. Our theme this month is Halloween Memories. Halloween season is a time for making new memories, as much as it is about revisiting the joy of old ones. Have a magical season, everyone!

Monthly Haiku Corner – August

Happy August! 30 days til the ‘Ber months and then, the real fun starts! I just returned from a great weekend at Midsummer Scream in Long Beach, where the Halloween spirit was alive and well! Stay tuned for my mini review and pics.

Here at Halloween Horror Haiku, we celebrate all things spooky every day, but this is the time of year where Halloween takes front and center. With that said, the theme this month is Witch’s Halloween Spellbook. Do witches truly have a spell for a great Halloween? I believe they do.

Monthly Haiku Corner – July

Happy July 4th! Believe it or not, there are still many spots in world’s oceans that have not been explored. We still do not fully understand ocean’s wildlife and what hidden dangers may lurk at the bottom of the deepest, darkest trenches of the sea. Our theme this month is creatures of the deep. Be careful where you swim.

Monthly Haiku Corner – June

Three things remind me of June, cherries, delicious bit size fruit, great for milkshakes and pie; camping, which is not my cup of tea, but certainly makes for great stories; and werewolves. The werewolf, a terrifying beast that hides deep in the forests, waiting for its next victim. Is this creature part of nature’s evolution or an abomination from Hell? Our theme this month is a werewolf summer.

Monthly Haiku Corner – May

Happy May! We’re halfway to Halloween. Hang in there just a few more months, my friends.

In honor of May being Cemetery Appreciation Month, this month’s theme will be cemetery life.

Monthly Haiku Corner – April

Happy Spring! You know what this time of year reminds me of? Reanimation! That’s right, zombies. Flowers are everywhere and flowers bring people with pesticides trying to rid the world of bees and pesky insects, unfortunately, to the peril of the rest of the world. So, our theme this month is zombie spring. We’re almost to the halfway point til Halloween. Look alive and watch your step in graveyards.

Monthly Haiku Corner – March

As we look ahead towards a hopeful March, we long for love, laughter, and simpler times. In the day, mankind thrives, but mischievous creatures still rule the night. This month’s theme is Legendary Creatures.
